Addisu Mesfin MD, Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Laconi Family Vice Chair of Research, Chief of Spine Oncology at Medstar Orthopaedic Institute/Georgetown University School of Medicine. My clinical and research interests in the cervical spine include: Cervical spine tumors and cervical trauma as well as the management of OPLL and Klippel-Feil syndrome. I have been an active member of CSRS since 2014 and am passionate about the education of the next generation of spine surgeons.
I started my career at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry where I served as Division Chief of Spine Surgery and Professor of Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery. I joined Medstar Health in Washington DC three years ago as Vice Chair of Research for the Washington DC region as well as Chief of Spine Oncology with academic affiliations with Georgetown University School of Medicine. Our research groups work has yielded more than 250 peer reviewed publications and has been awarded grant funding.
