Alexander Baur, DO; Research Fellow at Liberty University
Alexander J. Baur, DO is a graduating medical student at Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he graduated top of his class and was named Medical School Researcher of the Year. He has received multiple academic honors, including the Outstanding Author Award from the Journal of Spine Surgery and the LUCOM Class of 2025 Research Award.
Dr. Baur is actively engaged in spine research, with projects spanning lumbar and cervical fusion interbody cage materials and sacroiliac joint fusion. He is also involved in broader orthopaedic research, including shoulder instability, orthopaedic trauma, adult reconstruction, and the use of artificial intelligence in orthopaedics. He has authored more than a dozen peer-reviewed publications across journals including Journal Spine Surgery,Shoulder and Elbow Journal, Journal of Hip Preservation Surgery, and Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine. His work has been presented nationally and internationally at venues such as the Global Spine Congress, AAOS Annual Meeting, Spine Summit, and the Orthopaedic Research Society.
In addition to clinical research, Dr. Baur is the founder of SnapOrtho, an educational platform designed to modernize orthopaedic learning through interactive mobile and web-based tools. He also works in machine learning and medical data science, applying artificial intelligence to clinical decision support and musculoskeletal care delivery.
