    Anthony M. DiGiorgio, DO, MHA

    UCSF

    Anthony M. DiGiorgio, DO, MHA, FAANS, is an Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Director of Spinal Neurotrauma at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, the city’s Level-1 safety-net trauma center. Additionally, he serves as the lead neurotrauma consultant for the San Francisco 49ers and is affiliated faculty at UCSF’s Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies.
    Dr. DiGiorgio earned his medical degree from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine after completing his bachelor’s in biology at UC Santa Barbara. He completed his neurosurgery residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, where he concurrently earned a Master of Health Administration. He subsequently went to UCSF to complete fellowships in both minimally invasive spine surgery and neurotrauma/neurocritical care. He is board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
    A leader in health policy, Dr. DiGiorgio’s research focuses on reducing administrative burdens, advancing real-time clinical registries, and improving access for low-income patients. His work has been published in JAMA, Health Affairs, Neurosurgery, and JAMA Health Forum, and he has testified before both the U.S. Senate Budget Committee and the House Energy & Commerce Committee. He currently serves on the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics and is a delegate to the AMA House of Delegates. Additionally, he provides expertise on code valuation and payment reform through the AMA’s RUC and CPT processes.
