Ken Porche, M.D., was born and raised in Southern Louisiana. He completed his undergraduate studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, earning a B.S. in Biochemistry and Biophysics, with minors in Mathematics and Brain & Behavior. He subsequently remained at RPI post-graduation to further his research on molecular motors. Dr. Porche earned an M.A. in Medical Science from Boston University School of Medicine, focusing his thesis on functional MRI analysis in adults with autism spectrum disorder. Concurrently, he managed data at Boston Children’s Hospital, examining genetic abnormalities related to autism within the Simons VIP study. He then pursued his medical degree at Louisiana State University in New Orleans.
Dr. Porche began his neurosurgical training at the University of Florida in 2017, graduating in 2024. He completed CAST-accredited fellowships in Spine Surgery at the University of Utah and Peripheral Nerve Surgery at Mayo Clinic Rochester, alongside additional training in Deformity Spine Surgery. His clinical and academic interests include complex spinal reconstructions, peripheral nerve surgery, and the integration of advanced biomarker research into clinical practice. He has published extensively, authoring over 50 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and is actively engaged in research initiatives involving nerve dysphagia after cervical surgery, quality outcomes, malignant transformation of schwannomas, and artificial intelligence. Currently he is n Senior Associate Consultant and Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona.
