Maxwell Boakye MD MPH MBA, is Professor of Neurosurgery, Ole A., Mabel Wise&Wilma Wise Nelson Endowed Chair and Associate Dean for Physician Scientist Training and CoDirector of MD PhD program at the University of Louisville. Dr Boakye was Interim Director of the Kentucky Spinal Cord Injury center and leads the Professional Development Core of the University of Louisville clinical and translational research (CTR) grant. He is the lead neurosurgeon for the epidural stimulation research program and Director of the porcine large animal SCI research program at the University of Louisville. His research interests include understanding of neuroplasticity and neurophysiological changes after spinal cord injury and neuromodulation of spinal cord injury using human, large animal models and rodent models and restorative therapies for spinal cord injury recovery. He is a Co-PI of an NIH funded grant on epidural stimulation for restoration of function after spinal cord injury.
