San Joaquin General Hospital
Dr. Senegor was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1956. He completed high school in Istanbul in 1974 and subsequently moved to the US where he had his college and medical school education at the University of Chicago, earning his MD in 1982. He was a resident in neursurgery, also at the University of Chicago, 1982-1988, training with Sean Mullan MD. in 1986, he also trained with Charles Wilson MD at UC San Francisco as the Wilson Resident. After graduation Dr. Senegor began private practice in Cincinnati, Ohio, 1988-1991. In 1991 Dr. Senegor became a diplomate of the American Board of Neurosurgery.
In 1991 Dr. Senegor relocated to Stockton, California, where he was in private practice with Karl Gregorius MD for twenty-six years, the two covering the entire county of San Joaquin during that time. His practice mainly included spine surgery, trauma and brain tumors. Initially it also included vascular work but this was given up as the field became specialized.
In 2017, at age sixty, Dr. Senegor began a new career as Chief of a newly formed Division of Neurosurgery at San Joaquin General Hospital where he built a team to support a nascent trauma program that started from nothing and became a busy Level II Trauma Center, caring for over 3500 trauma activations a year. Considering the size of the hospital, 150 beds, this was quite remarkable. During this time Dr. Senegor's specialty became more concentrated on complex spine work, both degenerative and trauma, as well as traumatic brain injury.
Dr. Senegor is married and has two adult children. He has diverse outside interests including wildlife and landscape photography, wine appreciation, travel, classical music on which he has lectured for two decades and has YouTube podcasts.
