Medical College of Wisconsin
Ataollah was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. He earned his medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences and is currently a Project Appointment Researcher in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he works under the mentorship of Dr. Saman Shabani. His research focuses on spine surgery, with particular interests in adult spinal deformity, spinal oncology, and acute and chronic spinal cord injury.
His work centers on clinical and translational research aimed at improving outcomes in complex spinal surgery. Ongoing projects focus on optimizing surgical decision-making, identifying pre- and postoperative risk factors for adverse outcomes, and enhancing long-term quality of life for patients undergoing spine procedures. His long-term goal is to bridge clinical research with precision surgical planning through evidence-based strategies and advanced statistical and biomechanical modeling to advance the field of spine surgery.
Outside of research, Ataollah maintains an active lifestyle and enjoys playing and watching basketball, having previously played as a point guard in the national high school league. He is also an avid follower of Formula One racing and professional soccer.
