Sasha Howell, MD, MS

Sasha Howell, MD, MS, is a PGY-6 neurosurgery resident at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She completed her medical training through the MD-Plus program at Texas A&M College of Medicine, earning both her MD and MS with a concentration in developmental neurobiology. Dr. Howell’s clinical and research interests center on spine surgery, with a particular focus on health disparities, social determinants of health, and optimizing outcomes in complex spinal pathology. Dr. Howell is actively involved in resident leadership, education, and mentorship, and plans to pursue fellowship training in spine surgery with a career focus on academic medicine, health equity, and outcomes-driven innovation.
