University of Virginia School of Medicine
Richard Chung is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He previously attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in neuroscience. Prior to medical school, he sparked an interest in neurosurgery and spine investigating Bertolotti Syndrome at Mount Sinai Hospital under Dr. Arthur Jenkins.
At UVA, he further developed his neurosurgical research endeavors and was awarded an NIH Medical Student Research grant to pursue his work. He is currently conducting spinal outcomes research in the Yoon Spine lab under Dr. Jang Won Yoon, with particular interests in patient-reported outcomes, interbody technology, complex deformity, and endoscopic spine surgery.
