Albany Medical College
Avi A. Gajjar, MBA is a medical student at Albany Medical College pursuing a Distinction in Research with academic interests spanning cerebrovascular, endovascular, and spinal neurosurgery. He has conducted clinical and translational research at Albany Medical College, the University of Pennsylvania, and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Singapore, and has authored over 80 peer-reviewed publications in neurosurgical and neurological journals. He is the co-founder of NeurosurGen Inc., an academic genealogy initiative supported by funding from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons National Research and Education Foundation; the project was publicly announced at the 2023 Society of Neurological Surgeons Annual Meeting and later featured as the 2024 Congress of Neurological Surgeons John Thompson History of Medicine Lecture. In addition to his research, he is active in numerous education and mentorship initiatives. Outside of medicine, he enjoys hiking, kayaking, baking, and swimming, and is an Eagle Scout.
