Columbia University/Och Spine
Dr. Dean Chou is Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Columbia University in New York. He is the Chief of the Spine Division, Spine Fellowship Director, and Co-Site Chief of the New York-Presbyterian/Allen Och Spine Hospital. He previously was on faculty at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) as a Professor of Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Surgery. After medical school at UCSF, he completed his residency in neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and a spine fellowship at the Barrow Neurologic Institute. He is the Spine Section Editor of Neurosurgery, an editorial board member of PLOS ONE, and an Advisory Board member of Spine. He was the Scientific Program Committee Chair of 2025 Spine Summit (Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral Nerves), and he is the Scientific Program Committee Co-Chair for the 2026 American Association of the Neurological Surgeons (AANS). He is a member of the Society of Neurological Surgeons and a member of the American Academy of Neurological Surgeons.
