    Dr. Jim A. Youssef, MD

    Jim A. Youssef, MD, brings over three decades of expertise in orthopaedic spine surgery, with a focus on minimally invasive techniques and complex spinal deformities. Following his retirement from clinical practice in 2020, Dr. Youssef transitioned seamlessly into a prominent role within the healthcare industry.
    As a seasoned professional, Dr. Youssef led a Private Equity healthcare team, diligently identifying and evaluating merger and acquisition opportunities within the healthcare sector. He further extends his influence as a trusted consultant to various Venture Capital and Private Equity firms.
    In 2023, Dr. Youssef assumed a pivotal position at Mainstay Medical (www.mainstaymedical.com), a distinguished medical device company headquartered in San Diego, CA. Here, he spearheads Medical and Scientific Affairs, steering pivotal clinical research initiatives, overseeing publication strategies, society relationships and facilitating reimbursement efforts.
    Dr. Youssef's entrepreneurial spirit is evidenced by his founding of Spine Colorado (www.spinecolorado.com), a highly regarded 100,000 sq ft spine center which achieved notable financial success and employment growth during his tenure. His innovative ventures also include co-founding Syndicom, a collaborative e-learning platform for spine healthcare providers (subsequently acquired by North American Spine Society), and the Belize Spine Foundation, dedicated to providing spinal surgery services in Belize and Central America.
    Furthermore, Dr. Youssef's commitment to advancing medical education and collaboration is underscored by his involvement in establishing non-profit organizations focused on spine medical education, biologics research and involvement with numerous spine societies including NASS, SMISS, SRS, CSRS and LSRS.
    A prolific inventor, Dr. Youssef boasts twelve published patents, with several resulting in commercially successful implants. His extensive research contributions are reflected in over fifty peer-reviewed publications and twelve book chapters, establishing him as a thought leader in the field.
    Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. Youssef is a seasoned investor, specializing in early-stage medical device startups. He co-founded the Incas Venture Fund, which successfully guided seven startups to IPOs or acquisitions, delivering significant returns over a decade-long period.
    Dr. Youssef is also renowned for his role in co-founding the Evidence & Technology Spine Summit, one of the premier global event in spine surgery. Actively engaged in his community, he serves on prestigious review boards for the University of Colorado and the Office of Economic Development and International Trade for the State of Colorado and serves as co-chair of the Southwest River Council for American Rivers.
