Cedars Sinai Medical Center
Jun Ho Chung MD is a spine surgery fellow from Cedars Sinai presenting research on behalf of respected mentors such as Dr. Corey Walker. Before his fellowship, he received his Medical Doctorate from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 2020, following completion of his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned departmental honors in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. He subsequently completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Loma Linda University Health.
Dr. Chung’s research interests include treatment and outcomes of cervical and lumbar degenerative conditions. His previous spine related research investigated perioperative opioid utilization, demonstrating associations between preoperative opioid or cannabis use and increased readmission rates, reoperation risk, and postoperative opioid dependence following anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). These findings were presented at national meetings including the North American Spine Society and Orthopaedic Summit and published in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Chung has received multiple academic and leadership honors, including induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society in his junior year, the McCollister Evarts Resident Leadership Forum, and recognition as Orthopedic Resident of the Year upon graduation from residency at Loma Linda University Health. His research continues to focus on improving perioperative decision-making, optimizing resource utilization, and enhancing patient outcomes.
